Your Experience Completes the Conversation
Get The Most Out Of The Number One Skill
Hi fellow communicators, Julie and Alex here.
We need to say something really important.
This Substack is yours as a Social Learning Community so that everyone benefits from experience. Whilst it’s perfectly fine just to read The Number One Skill, adding to the conversation is where you gain the most.
Get The Most Out Of The Number One Skill
Communication skills are not found in single perspectives – it’s forged through informed discussion, experience and the occasional humility to admit when we have it wrong.
Posts we create are just the opening gambit. Posts mature as new comments are added. Turn them into something lasting by:
📚 Suggesting resources to consider
🏢 Sharing what works for you or at your organization (Your team’s daily routine, a communication hack, a new resource (book/film/podcast) you came across that explains something better)
🧩 Challenge any idea but pair critique with alternatives and modifications
🏆 Give credit where due if you find a golden resource. Name its creator, give a link, or title so others can find it too.
🔓 Share tactics freely and what works for you. Redact sensitive client/company specifics please.
🌍 Adding cultural or generational nuances. Maybe the approach needs modification if you live in a different country for example.
⏳ Comment to update older posts with the latest trends, thoughts and examples including whitepapers, academic findings, case studies, suggested plan B tactics, or share a cautionary tale to help someone else.
Why This Works for You and Everyone Else
The Number One Skill is a Social Learning Community and your comments fundamentally matter. You give front-line perspective and every comment you add becomes a permanent upgrade to the collective playbook.
